By Dan Ambrose: Henry Garcia believes Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis’ aggressiveness will be his undoing against his soon Ryan Garcia next Saturday night in their fight on Showtime PPV on April 22nd.

As Henry tells it, Tank (28-0, 26 KOs) always fights aggressively, and when he goes up against Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs), one of the best counter-punchers in the game, he’s going to leave himself open when he swings, and he’ll get clipped.

Henry says that Tank has never fought anyone better than Luke Campbell in his career, and when he did fight taller guys, it was fighters that were moving up in weight and lacked power.

The reality is the only taller fighter that Tank has fought during his nine-year professional career is 5’10” Mario Barrios at 140, and he was a weaker puncher with moderate ability.

Some boxing fans viewed Barrios as a paper champion because he picked up his WBA secondary light welterweight title against Batyr Akhmedov, and he never beat anyone remotely good, and his career has gone nowhere since his loss to Tank.

Ryan Garcia has a lot of advantages

“The advantage for us is Ryan has the height, Ryan has speed, and Ryan has power,” said Ryan Garcia’s dad Henry Garcia to Fight Hub TV, discussing the advantages Kingry has over Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis for their mega-clash next Saturday night on Showtime PPV.

“When you have all those elements, it makes you a fighter with a lot of advantages, and he knows how to use them. I’m not saying Tank doesn’t, either. Tank does too.

“I’ve always told people, and Ryan said is that if you really thought about it, Davis has always fought guys that were moving up in weight. If you move up in weight, you have to have the height and power to go with it. You have to unless you’re an exception. Very far and few.

“But if you have somebody tall with no power, of course, you’re going to beat him. I’m going to go farther than that. There is nobody that Tank has fought better than Luke Campbell because I seen in myself.

“Rolly [Romero] did good, but he started [boxing] late, so that hurt him. You have to have a pedigree because if you don’t have a pedigree, you won’t understand what fighters are trying to lure you into,” Garcia said.

Tank Davis must be careful

“There’s a setup here, there’s a game plan, and if you don’t understand that coming into a fight, you are going to get knocked out, but you have to be prepared, and that’s what we’re prepared for,” said Henry.

“If you come in and want to be explosive, what’s the first thing that happens when you’re explosive, and you’re very aggressive? What’s the first thing that happens? The #1 answer is that you leave yourself open because you’re aggressive.

“What happened with Rolly when he was [aggressive against Tank Davis last year]? Tank has got to be careful because if you miss, my son is one of the best counter-punchers in boxing. He will find it because he has the precision, thanks to my bag, of course, our training.

“I’m telling you that it has improved him, and he has precision,” said Henry.
