By Adam Baskin: Ryan Garcia slammed Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis over his purse bet today during the grand arrivals in Las Vegas, Nevada ahead of Saturday’s fight at the T-Mobile Arena. Ryan let the fans know that the purse that he’s talking about is a money one, not the purse [handbag] that Gervonta (28-0, 26 KOs) carries around.
Ryan and Tank Davis have made a verbal bet on the outcome of their fight, in which the loser must surrender their purse to the winner. Of course, without this part of the contract, it’s not likely to happen.
“I had a vision to fight Gervonta Davis, and I made it happen, and here I am right now,” said Ryan Garcia during today’s grand arrivals in Las Vegas.
“I just hope he’s not talking about the purse he wears,” said Ryan when asked about the winner takes all bet that Gervonta wants for their fight on Saturday.
“We’re not talking about that purse he wears. We’re talking about the whole fight purse. Let’s bring it on. Just staying focused and getting ready for this fight. That’s it. Staying right where I’m at right now.
“I’ve got so much experience next to me. He’s been in the game for so many years: 20+ years, a Hall of Fame coach. You can imagine what that brings to the table. I’m just blessed to have a man like that in my corner,” said Ryan Garcia about his trainer Joee Goosen.
“Of course, this moment is one that we’ve been preparing for for a long time, and we’re ready to conquer it. Gervonta, I just want to say something.. He’s a great fighter, but he cannot stop what’s going to happen on Saturday night. He’s not going to stop it.
“He may be a great fighter, but I have something that he can’t defeat. Nobody in this room can stop what’s going to happen on April 22nd. Gervonta is going to be done, and I want him to learn a good lesson after this victory.
“In a blink of an eye, it’s going to be finished. That’s what’s going to happen on April 22nd. In a blink of an eye, it’s gone, and everybody will be shocked. Nobody will have anything to say. No words will be spoken.
“We just have to watch and see. That’s what’s going to happen on April 22nd,” said King Ryan.
