Joyce lashes out at Tyson Fury for not fighting him

By Charles Brun: Joe Joyce is not a happy camper, angry at Tyson Fury for not taking a fight against him after he’d said he was going to face him if his undisputed clash against IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk fell apart.

The 34-year-old Fury, who seems just focused on money and little else, has turned out to be a massive disappointment to fans and Joyce for not backing up his words of fighting him if his hoped-for undisputed clash match against Usyk fell through.

Fury has seemingly lost his ambition since his second fight with Wilder, as he had to be forced into the trilogy. Since then, he’s taken two easy fights against British journeymen Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte.

Fury’s dad dismissed the idea of Tyson facing Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs), labeling it a “meaningless” fight because Joe brings nothing to the table regarding world titles, and he’s not super popular.

With the Usyk fight off, WBC champion Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) still has no opponent for his next fight in the summer in what his promoter George Warren says will be in a stadium. According to Bob Arum, Andy Ruiz Jr (35-2, 22 KOs) is one option being explored for Fury’s next fight.

“What about the Usyk fight then? He should’ve had that. What’s he been doing? He said he wanted to fight me; he was going to fight me. He talks a lot, but he needs to back it up,” said Joe Joyce to Pro Boxing Fans about Fury not agreeing to fight him now that his fight with Usyk is no longer happening.

Many boxing fans believe Fury is only on his way out of the sport. He will take an easy fight this summer against a sure-thing opponent and then cash out in a retirement fight against Anthony Joshua in December in Saudi Arabia.

Fury has made a lot of money and has a net worth of $65 million. The hunger he would need to fight a dangerous opponent like Joe Joyce isn’t there, so he won’t fight him.

Joyce is too much of a threat to Fury, especially with the limited one-dimensional punch & grab style that he uses now.

That style won’t work against Joyce, and he knows that, and that’s not going to get anywhere near him. Ruiz is a safe fight because he’s godawful and more of a bottom-drawer-level heavyweight.
