By Dan Ambrose: Oscar De La Hoya says Ryan Garcia won’t be affected by the 10-lb rehydration clause & 136-lb catchweight for his fight against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on April 22nd. De La Hoya says that Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) will weigh in the morning of the contest for the contract secondary weight check on the day of the fight, and he’ll be fine by 8:00 p.m. that evening.

Tank Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) hopes that Ryan is weakened by the two weight stipulations he put in the contract, so he can increase his chances of winning the fight.

As chunky as Tank Davis looked last week, he could be the one that is more natively affected by the catchweight and 10-lb rehydration clause than Ryan. Tank, 28, looks like he didn’t burn off enough fat in this camp to deal with his weight stipulations.

“The good thing is it’s going to be early in the morning, so it’s not going to affect Ryan Garcia whatsoever,” said Oscar De La Hoya to K.O. Artist Sports when asked when the secondary weigh-in will be on the day of the fight for the Tank v. Ryan fight on April 22nd.

“He knows what he has to do. Look at him. He’s already on weight. Everything will be on point come Saturday [April 22nd] at 8:00 pm; Ryan will be in the best shape of his life,” De La Hoya continued.

“I think it’s fair to say that Gervonta and Ryan haven’t fought that type of opposition. It will be a test of will, strength, and determination and a test of who wants it more because both guys are skillful.

“I strongly feel that these guys will go out and perform the best performance of their life. It’s going to be that type of fight,” said De La Hoya.

Haney gives Ryan Garcia a shot at winning

“Ryan has a shot.” undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney told The DAZN Boxing Show about the Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis vs. Ryan Garcia fight. “Tank is much more proven and experienced, but Ryan is hungry. He seems like he’s got the right attitude to win.

“We’ve got to see if that weight plays a role when Tank hits Ryan, how Ryan stands up, but also how Tank stands up when Ryan hits him,” said Devin.
