Jermall Charlo calls out Demetrius Andrade for his next fight

By Robert Segal: WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo says he wants to fight the injured WBO champ Demetrius Andrade next.

Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) reportedly had the opportunity to fight Andrade a couple of years ago when he was briefly promoted by Eddie Hearn, but he’s said to have turned down $7 million for the match.

So why would Charlo now suddenly show a desire to fight the 34-year-old former two-division world champion Andrade (31-0, 19 KOs)? Is it because he’s got a shoulder injury, or because of the way he sounded confused with his rambling call out of Chris Eubank Jr.

For many of the boxing fans that saw Andrade’s recent social media post, you have to be worrying about him because he was talking nonsense about how Eubank can get a million fighting him next instead of Conor Benn.

One million is chicken feed compared to the many millions Eubank Jr will likely get for the Benn fight. Eubank Jr can make many times more than that fight Benn, and he likely would never entertain a fight with Andrade.

I want to fight Demetrius Andrade next, so stop talking s***,” said Jermall Charlo on social media. “You [people] in the comments, you’re acting weird. His name is Andreas, and I want to fight him next.”

Why isn’t Jermall Charlo trying to reschedule against Maciej Sulecki? Those two were supposed to fight on June 18th, but Charlo pulled out of the contest due to a back injury.

It’s now uncertain if the Charlo-Sulecki fight will ever take place, and also makes you wonder how serious Jermall’s back injury was for him to be calling out other fighters and not talking about rescheduled. Were the ticket sales poor for the Jermall vs. Sulecki fight?

“He don’t even want to fight. Who else do I want to fight? GGG? GGG should not be fighting Canelo. Canelo already beat your a**, so fight me so I can at least get my cloud up.

“Are all you guys haters? Munguia don’t want to fight me. He’s a little a** fighter. I want to fight Oscar De La Hoya, David Benavidez, Demetrius Andrade and Chris Eubank or whatever his name is. GGG too. I’ll fight GGG,” said Jermall.

That sounds like Jermall’s head is in outer space somewhere because none of the guys on his list will ever fight him. Benavidez wanted to, but that fight is no longer possible.
