Chris Eubank Jr. has withdrawn his corruption accusations against Robert Smith and the British Boxing Board of Control, accepting that his claims about interference in his Conor Benn preparation and misuse of fine money were unfounded.
The retraction removes the basis for a damaging part of Eubank’s public attack during the September 17, 2025 press conference. He now accepts that neither Smith nor the Board is corrupt and has apologized for the harm caused.
Eubank confirmed a confidential settlement in a statement posted on social media on October 1. The wording leaves little room to interpret this as merely an apology for how he expressed himself. He explicitly accepts that the allegations were untrue.
“I accept that these statements are untrue and without any foundation,” Eubank wrote in his statement. “I accept that neither Mr Smith nor the Board are corrupt and I retract my statements in full. I have agreed a settlement of these matters on confidential terms. The parties now consider the matter resolved. I apologise for the harm caused to both Mr Smith and the Board.”

His original accusations alleged that Smith was influenced by Matchroom and Eddie Hearn, had tried to disrupt his preparation for Benn, and that Smith and the Board used fines to enrich themselves. Eubank has now withdrawn all three claims.
A fighter can challenge a regulator’s decisions, object to fines, or criticize how his preparation was handled. Alleging corruption takes that dispute further, accusing identifiable people of dishonesty. Eubank’s statement acknowledges that his accusations had no foundation.
The confidential terms leave the financial details undisclosed. The public outcome, however, is clear: Smith and the Board have received a full retraction and apology.
The statement’s pale gray lettering makes it difficult to read against the white background. Its message is considerably clearer. Eubank’s earlier accusations can no longer be presented as claims he continues to defend.
