By Ken Hissner: The boxer with the most wins in the history of boxing was Len Wickwar of the Leicester, Leicestershire, UK, who won 340 fights from 1928 to 1947. He had at least 470 fights ending up at 340-87-43.

Second or third is Wildcat “The Golden Sandstorm” Monte of Wichita Falls, Texas at 273-68-39 (Historian Henry Hascup) or 230-55-41 (box rec) from 1923 to 1937. Then second or third Billy Bird at 260-73-20 of Chelsea, London, UK, is second from 1920 to 1948.

In modern times fourth was two-time world Featherweight champion and IBHOF inductee Willie “Will o’ the Wisp” Pep, of Rocky Hill, Connecticut at 229-11-1 from 1940 to 1966.

In fifth place is Young “King of the Cranebrakes” Stribling, IBHOF inductee of Macon, Georgia at 224-13-14 from 1921 to 1933. Sixth is “Slapsie” Maxie Rosenbloom, IBHOF inductee of New York, New York, at 207-39-26.

Seventh is George Rose, of Bristol, Avon, UK, at 208-38-4 from 1926 to 1937. Eighth is George “Tishy” Marsden, of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK, at 204-101-42 from 1927 to 1946.

Ninth is Kid “Chino” Azteca, of Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico, at 192-47-11. In the tenth or fourth is IBHOF inductee Ted “The Aldgate Spinx” Kid Lewis, of St. George’s, London, UK, at 193-32-14 (Henry Hascup) or at 230-46-23 (box rec) from 1909 to 1929.

These are ten of the winningest boxers in the history of boxing. Next are ten of the ones with the most losses and worst records.

Leading with the most losses is Kristian “Mr. Reliable” Laight, of Nuneaton, Warwickshire, UK, at 12-279-9 from 2003 to 2018. The second is “Ragin” Reggie Strickland, of Indianapolis, Indiana, from 1987 to 2005.

The third is “Professor” Peter Buckley, of Birmingham, West Midlands, UK, at 32-256-12 from 1989 to 2008. Fourth is still active Kevin McCauley, from Stourbridge, West Midlands, UK, at 15-224-12 from 2008 to 2022.

At fifth is Jason Nesbitt, of Birmingham, West Midlands, UK, at 10-198-4 from 2000 to 2016. At sixth is “Smokin” Ibrar Riyaz, of Reading, Berkshire, UK, at 6-180-4 from 2008 to 2015.

At seventh is Tiger Bert Ison of Leicester, Leicestershire, UK, at 114-180-41 from 1928 to 1939. Eighth is Arnold “Kid” Sheppard of Ferndale Wales, UK, at 98-171-38 from 1926 1939.

Ninth is Simmie “Spider” Black of Little Rock, Arkansas, 33-170-3 from 1971 to 1996. At tenth is Donnie “The Spoiler” Penelton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at 13-167-6 from 1990 to 2009.

Others with extremely bad losses are Bheki “Becks-Tiger” Moyo of Zimbabwe and Earl’s Court, London, UK, from 2005 to 2015. Also, Alexandru Manuea, of Buftea, Romania, at 0-54. Still active at fourth is Marius Petre Sorin, Bucharest, Romania, 0-48-2 from 1997 to 2021.

At fifth is Carlos Rocha Tomar, of Braga, Portugal, at 0-48-1 from 1993 to 2000.
