Ryan Garcia says he beats Tank Davis, but Mayweather won’t let the fight happen

By Allan Fox: Ryan Garcia insists that he would beat Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, but his promoter Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he wants to keep him fighting in-house at PBC and with his company. Ryan says Tank Davis doesn’t like taking on anybody tough because it’s “not in his nature.’

Ryan  (21-0, 18 KOs) was on IG live on Wednesday, getting peppered by boxing fans for failing to get a fight against Tank Davis and Manny Pacquiao.

At this point, NO one believes that Ryan Garcia would beat either of those guys or Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez, Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz Jr., Javier Fortuna, or Vasily Lomachenko.

These were two guys that #2 WBC Ryan spent months calling out, saying he was going to battle recently. But when neither of those fights transpired, the 23-year-old Golden Boy promoted King Ryan was left with no one.

This year, Ryan defeated Luke Campbell by a seventh round knockout last January in a WBC  135-lb title eliminator. But after becoming mandatory to WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney, Ryan opted not to take the fight because he wanted to face Tank.

Fans think Ryan Garcia chickened out after he became Haney’s WBC mandatory. Having the WBC belt would mean a lot for Ryan, and it’s incredulous that he chose not to take advantage of the opportunity he had.

Ryan Garcia Says he’d beat Tank Davis

“I would love to have three, but the way my career has been going, it’s been one or two,” said Ryan Garcia on Instagram on how many fights he’d like per year.

“I want to KO everyone; I don’t discriminate. Everyone, I want to KO. I do beat [Gervonta] Davis, but he’s not going to fight anybody outside of Mayweather Promotions, is what Floyd said.

“You guys got to stop commenting about that because Gervonta is never going to fight anybody that you really want him to fight. So let’s kill that right now.

“Floyd gave that away. He doesn’t want to fight anybody tough. It’s just not in his [Tank Davis] nature, I guess,” said Ryan Garcia.

It would be a crazy move on Golden Boy’s part to let Ryan fight Gervonta Davis right now because he’s making good fighting stiffs on DAZN.

If Ryan’s promoters make the mistake of putting him in with someone good like Tank, Rolly, Haney, Lomachenko, or Teofimo, they could be destroying their golden goose.

Golden Boy Promotions was supposed to be setting up a fight between Ryan and Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz Jr, but there’s been no word on that will happen.

Last July, Diaz Jr. called out Ryan after replacing him as the opponent for Javier Fortuna in a DAZN fight. But here we are two months later and still not fight. Golden Boy isn’t even talking about the fight at this point, and it’s looking like Ryan is done for the year.
