By Ken Hissner: At the Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Saturday over Fox, PBC, Leon Margules (Warriors Boxing) and Tom Brown (TGB Promotions) featured in the Main Event WBA No. 1 ranked Eimantas Stanionis and former WBA Welterweight champion 40-year-old southpaw Luis Collazo ended in a no-contest in the third round due to a clash of heads with Collazo receiving a cut ending the bout at 2:31 of the fourth round.

Not finishing 4 rounds brought about the ruling. In the co-feature, Welterweight Gabriel Maestre won a highly disputed decision over Mykal “The“Professor” Fox.

In the Main Event No. 1 WBA welterweight Eimantas Stanionis, 13-0 (9), #148½, of Kaunas, Lithuania, former WBA Welter champ southpaw Luis Collazo, 39-8 (20), #148¾, of Queens, NY, 12 rounds.

In the second round, Eimantas had Collazo’s left eye starting to swell though he may have won the round. In the fourth round, due to a clash of heads, Collazo suffered a small cut below the right eye as he went to the canvas.

After 5 minutes of rest from referee Charley Fitch Collazo couldn’t continue. The result was ruled a no-decision due to not completing 4 rounds. Collazo may have won 2 of the 3 rounds.

In the co-feature 2-time Olympian Gabriel Maestre, 4-0 (3), #146, of Barranquilla, COL, won a highly disputed decision over Mykal “The Professor” Fox, 22-3 (4), #146¼, Upper Marlboro, MD, over 12 rounds.

In the first round, Maestre had a slight edge. In the second round, Fox landed a left hand to the chin of Maestre, dropping him for an 8-count from referee Mark Nelson. Upon rising, Maestre went after Fox. In the third through the eighth rounds, the much taller Fox was on the move jabbing Maestre, who couldn’t cut off the ring.

In the ninth round, Fox stood his ground in the final minute, landing a solid lead left on the chin of Maestre, stopping him in his tracks. In the eleventh round, a desperate Maestre who never went beyond 4 rounds kept the round close as Fox was slowing down. In the twelfth and final round, Maestre was swinging wildly, trying for a knockout, possibly not winning a round since the first round. When the fans heard the decision, they let the 3 blind mice judges have it with loud boo’s while Fox stood there stunned!

Scores were 114-113, 115-112, and 117-110 for Maestre, while this writer had it 119-107 Fox.

Super Welter and former WBC and IBF Light Welter and IBF Welter champ southpaw Devon Alexander “The Great,” 27-7-1 (14), #154, of St. Louis, MO, lost a decision to Luis Santamaria, 11-2-1 (7), #148¾, of Garden Grove, CA, over 10 lackluster rounds.

In the first five rounds, neither boxer impressed with southpaw Alexander coming off a 2-year absence being the aggressor taking 4 of the 5 rounds. In the eighth round, it was the first Santamaria won since the first round. In the ninth round, it was more of the previous round. In the tenth and final round, it was close, ending a sleeper of a fight!

Scores were 97-93 and 98-92 twice Santamaria while this writer 97-93 Alexander. The referee was Mark Nelson.
