By Chris Williams: Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn had the highly popular WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo on his Instagram live on Wednesday.
Hearn asked Charlo if he wants to face one of the talented 160 and 168-pound fighters. Charlo (30-0, 22 KOs) showed interest and told Hearn to contact his adviser Al Haymon to discuss the particulars. Hearn can make those fights happen, as long as he gets on the horn and talks some sensible numbers to Haymon.
Gennadiy Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez have been on Charlo’s target list for a long time, but nothing has happened. After Jermall put in hard work to become the World Boxing Council mandatory to Canelo Alvarez, the WBC changed his status to ‘Franchise Champion,’ which effectively put him out of reach for Charlo.
Jermall Charlo on the cusp of stardom
The unbeaten WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (30-0, 22 KOs) has looked sensational recently in stopping Dennis Hogan and beating Brandon Adams. At 29, Charlo is on the cusp of stardom.
Hearn will be kicking himself for not setting up a match between him and one of his Matchroom fighters before he hit it big.
Things were going real smooth until Hearn blew it by telling Charlo, “Imagine getting all that money without fighting anyone.” When Hearn popped off with that remark, Charlo took off. You can’t blame him. Charlo is seen by some as the next superstar in boxing.

Jermall staying active in quarantine
Charlo: “I’m trying to make your day real quick,” said Charlo to Hearn Live on Instagram. ”
Hearn: “I don’t think you’ve had this many followers on your account for three years, to be honest with you.”
Charlo: “You a damn lie. You need to go check your numbers, bro.”
Hearn: “Come on and let’s see some work. You talk a lot, but let’s see that work. Who do you want?
Charlo: “Who you got? Who you got?
Hearn: “Do you want [Demetrius] Andrade.”
Charlo: “Oh, a southpaw? It’s right here.
Hearn: “Tell me your hit list.
Charlo: “Who do you want?”
Hearn: “I told you, Andrade. A lot of people talk about you fighting Chris Eubank Jr.”
Charlo: “We’re still working, quarantine or not, ask Al [Haymon]. Ask Al Haymon.”
Hearn: “Who’s that? You told me you were your own boss. Lions only.”
Charlo: “What did you say?”
Hearn: “What bout GGG?”
Charlo: “I’m trying to keep motivated. Keep motivating me.”
Hearn: “What about GGG. GGG says he’s ready.:
Charlo: “GGG? Who you got?”
Hearn: “Canelo. What about Canelo?”
Charlo: “Who else you got?”
Hearn: “Billy Joe Saunders wants to go.”
Charlo: “Stop playing with me. You know who to call [Haymon.”
Hearn: Are you good?”
Charlo: “I’m perfect.”
Hearn: “By the way, I saw your crib. I like it. Look at this. I was highly impressed. Imagine making all that money without fighting anybody. Oh, he’s gone. Well, that was interesting. A little on the strange side, but very interesting. I like Charlo. He’s a good sport.”
