By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) arrived in the UK today for his fight this Saturday night on September 10 against Britain’s Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 24 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, England. Golovkin has less than a week before he meets up with the 30-year-old UK fighter Brook inside the ring in front of what will be a huge horde of pro-Brook supporters at the O2 Arena.

Golovkin doesn’t care about being the visiting fighter, because he plans on shutting up the crowd and turning the three judges into spectators. In other words, there will be no controversial decisions in this fight on Saturday if Golovkin can help it, because he doesn’t plan on letting it go to a decision.

However, he’s not afraid of it going that route. Golovkin feels he’ll get the decision win because he plans on giving Brook such a bad beating that there won’t any way that the three judges can mess up the scoring of the fight like we’ve seen so many times before in boxing. But Golovkin doesn’t want the judges to have a say so in this fight. He wants to turn it into a brutal drama show where Brook will be fighting or survival from the 1st round on.

“We sparred on Friday and then we arrived today – we’re going to get some rest and then do some running tomorrow,” said Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez to skysports.com. “His weight is 162-163 lbs so he’s right where he needs to be. It’s just a matter of eating and then running a little bit to work it off but it’s a rest period now. It’s a rest week. As far as we’re concerned he’s the favorite. I think the bookies here have him around 1/6. He is the champion but Kell is a very formidable challenge and we’re not taking him lightly, trust me.”

Of course, Golovkin is the favorite in this fight. Heck, Brook probably wouldn’t be the favorite if he were to be fighting a rematch against Shawn Porter if there was a good referee working a hypothetical rematch that actually controls excessive clinching the way he’s supposed to. It goes without saying that Brook is the underdog in the fight.

The odds are crazy, because no way do I see this as a close fight. It’s a slam dunk win for Golovkin. The only thing that you can guess about is which round he’ll be knocking Brook out. I say it’ll happen in the 1st round, because Brook has been doing a lot of yapping about the fight, and I think Golovkin is going to want to shut him up quick.

Further, the British fans are going to cause Golovkin’s shark-like instincts to take over in the fight, and he’ll be looking to KO Brook straightaway rather than toying with him. Golovkin will say to himself, ‘Man, listen to all that singing and cheering for Brook. I think I’ll shut their traps up immediately by poleaxing Brook straightaway so that they don’t have to sing about.’ At that point, you can expect Golovkin slowly and calmly stalk Brook in the opening seconds of round one and then knocking him senseless with possibly the first hard punch he throws in the contest. Brook’s trainer Dominic Ingle can throw in the towel at that point, but it’ll be kind of a needless gesture, I imagine, because the referee will have already done the job of halting the contest.

“The home crowd will faze us if we allow it to go to a decision,” Sanchez said. “They have very high-quality judges but in any kind of human endeavor it can be influenced by a lot of noise and seen a different way. We hope we don’t let it go to a decision.”

Yeah, I think it would be very, very wise for Golovkin to make sure that the fight doesn’t go to a decision, because I think the judges , being humans, could completely mess up the fight and make the scores the laughing stock of boxing. It’s always interesting when judges lose their heads completely by embarrassing themselves with some completely oddball scores that seem like they came from outer space.

I really hope we don’t see that kind of thing on Saturday night. That’s why it’s good that Golovkin plans on making sure that it’s academic by looking to KO Brook as fast as possible. While Golovkin has been saying it’s important to get a decision fight, he acknowledges that he’s not going to let the contest go to the judges. Golovkin says he’ll definitely knock Brook out if he chooses to stand and fight him. If he looks to run, then he’ll chase him down and KO him. In other words, it sounds like Brook is going to get it no matter what he does in this fight.
