Tyson Fury to Deontay Wilder: “I’ll destroy you!”

fury8912By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) and WBC champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) went back and forth earlier today in talking trash to one another. Fury said that he plans on destroying the 6’7” Wilder in a unification fight just as soon as he gets past Wladimir Klischko (64-4, 53 KOs) in a unification fight in early 2016.

“Bronze Bomber, how about a unification fight for all the belts, you skinny, ball playing, bum city!” Fury said on his Twitter. “I’ll destroy you, [expletive]!!! Any time!!”

I get the impression that Fury is just flapping his gums to get at Wilder. I don’t see Fury wanting any part of Wilder right now. Let’s face it; Wilder is the complete opposite of Klitschko in terms of ability. Wilder is in his prime right now, and has more offensive tools than Wladimir. He also has a far higher work rate.

Fury, 27, wants to unify all the heavyweight titles. Wilder has the last title still not in Fury’s possession. Fighting Wilder gives Fury a ready-made excuse if things don’t work out for him. It’s not nearly as bad losing to a talent like Wilder as it would be if Fury gets beaten by one of the top contenders in the division, or to a rusty 35-year-old David Haye.

Fury has his hands full with his rematch against Klitschko in early 2016. Heck, Fury had to run for the full 12 rounds to beat Klitschko by a narrow 12 round decision last Saturday night in Dusseldorf, Germany. I’m not sure if running will work a second time for Fury. He might have to actually stop and fight next time around because Wladimir will be looking to cut off the ring on him to take his head off the next time around. It might be in Fury’s best interest to train to actually fight the second time around, because Wladimir will surely be looking to decapitate him in the rematch.

“Your horrible singing after the fight was more impressive than the fight itself. I’m ready whenever fat boy,” Wilder said about Fury’s singing.

Fury decided to sing after his win over Wladimir last Saturday and obviously Wilder wasn’t impressed with what he heard. Personally, I thought Fury’s voice sounded quite amateurish. I wish this was one of those programs where singers audition in front of a live audience in front of three judges, because I would have voted Fury off in a heartbeat. That singing hurt my ears.

Hey, Max Kellermanm, I heard you on LeBatard show, talking about whose next for Tyson Fury. I think you forgot to mention someone. #WBCChamp,” Deontay said.

I think it’s pretty clear that Fury isn’t thinking of a fight against Wilder right now, but I do think that’s going to change in the near future if he can get past Wladimir in the rematch. Heck, even if Fury loses the fight to Wladimir, I can see him trying to get a fight against Wilder. I mean, Fury might have to do some groveling to get the fight against Wilder, because the tables will have turned big time.
