Tyson Fury will be looking for stoppage against Klitschko, says Peter F

fury889By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) started his recent training camp a blubbery out of shape fighter who looked nothing like a professional athlete.

Fury has since burned off a lot of flab from his frame is within 10 pounds of his target weight for his title challenge against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) for their fight one month from now on October 24th at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The Klitschko-Fury fight will be televised on HBO in the United States, Sky Box Office in the UK, and RTL in Germany.

Fury’s trainer, Peter Fury, believes that he’s going to get a stoppage win over the 6’6” Wladimir in this fight. He doesn’t think it’ll be easy for Tyson, but if he follows his instructions and uses his technical skills, he thinks Fury can get the stoppage win. For Fury to win the fight he’s going to need to look a heck of a lot better than he’s been looking in hitting the mitts with Peter, because Fury hasn’t looked all that powerful when doing that.

“We’re looking for Tyson to put on a very good display,” Peter said to PT Boxing. “We will be looking for a stoppage. He’s [Fury] able to adjust his gears. I think he’s capable of winning it. We’re going in there to win it. Tyson is going to be able to adapt to my instructions and carry them out to the letter. I believe he’s getting there now. Once he does that I think we have a very good chance,” Peter said.

Peter seems to be really making a little too much about his own training ability by assuming that Fury will be able to defeat the 6’6” Klitschko if he follows his instructions perfectly. I don’t think that’s going to be the case. Fury can follow everything Peter says both in training and in the actual fight, and I still think it’ll help him. In other words, Fury can eat every vitamin, hit the bag perfectly, spar the right guys, and I still think he’s going to be in over his head when he gets inside the ring with Wladimir.

There’s only so much you can do with a flawed fighter like Fury. To be sure, you can pot a gloss on him by shinning him up, but when he gets in there with Klitschko, he’s still going to get blasted out just the same. It goes beyond instructions. You have to have a talented fighter to begin with in order for you to win.

If your fighter is just a slapper like Fury with no punching, a straight up fighting style, and a tendency to be sloppy in the ring, then you’re going to get whipped every time you get put in the ring with a talent like Wladimir or Deontay Wilder. I mean, the talent just isn’t there with Fury as far as I can tell.

I think Fury and Peter should forget all about trying to get a knockout on October 24th. Instead, they should just look to have him try and box and see what comes of it. At least if he boxes he’ll have a better chance of lasting longer against Wladimir than if he were to go right at him looking to stupidly try and get a knockout.
