Mayweather feels that referee that worked their last fight played it too loose by failing to address the fouling, but this time he’s confident that Maidana will be playing it clean. Maidana was fouling left and right without the referee stepping in to take control over the fight. It was pretty bad in the first half of the fight especially when Maidana had a lot of energy to rough Mayweather up. As the fight wore on into the second half, Maidana was tired and not fouling as much.

“The referee had a bad night last time. We forgive him but this is going to be a much cleaner fight. Note of those dirty rabbit punches or elbows,” Mayweather said at Chicago press tour on Tuesday with Maidana.

Mayweather thinks that Maidana needs to dump his trainer Robert Garcia if he wants to have any kind of chance of beating him in the future. There’s little chance of that happening thought because Maidana is totally 100% sold on Garcia, feeling as if he’s really helped out his career. Maidana was pretty wild when he first got with Garcia.

Maidana wasn’t throwing jabs and was just trying to manhandle his opponents with power shots. Garcia taught Maidana to use his jabs and to pace himself a little more. But overall, Maidana is still roughly 90% of what he was before Garcia got to him. He just made minor adjustments to his style.

Mayweather doesn’t expect to have any problems beating Maidana on September 13th. He wants just wants to give the best performance that he can while putting Maidana in his place by giving him a good schooling in front of the millions of fans that will be watching the fight around the world.

The last time they fought, Maidana won some rounds based on his aggression and Mayweather choosing to give him a break by standing in place for him to try and land his shots. But this time Mayweather is going to fight a much different fight and it’s going to be up to Maidana to try and solve the new puzzle that he presents for him.

If Maidana is good at adapting to Mayweather’s style then he could make for an interesting fight. But if Maidana struggles with the movement, speed and quick counters from Mayweather, then we could see a one-sided fight from start to finish.
