Golden Boy Promotions vs. Top Rank Boxing: Cold War might end?

By Gerardo Granados: According to the President of Golden Boy Promotions and boxing hall of fame member Oscar De la Hoya who was interviewed by ESPN, stated that he will approach Top Rank President Bob Arum in order to fix their differences and then talk about working together so that boxing fans will get the fights that they want to see.

De la Hoya was asked about the possibility of matching Manny Pacquiao versus Canelo Alvarez in the near future and he was emphatic about that it could happen but first He needed to talk to Bob Arum to solve past problems in order to do business.

This is great news, to hear that one of the parts involved is reaching out to end this Cold War that has deprived fight fans of the possibility of having great fights is a good start, now we the boxing fans just need to hear about Bob Arum decision to end this cold war and have them take business wise decision.

If these business men were able to negotiate a solution to their problems then which fight do the readers would like to see?

Undoubtedly we all want to see the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight even though it might be past due; but it would finally put an end to the endless keyboard wars at many boxing sites. But what about the next list:

Adrien Broner vs. Tim Bradley at welterweight
Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman at welterweight
Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Abner Mares at super bantamweight
Peter Quillin vs. Matt Korobov at middleweight
Manny Pacquiao vs. Devon Alexander at welterweight
Nonito Donaire vs. Abner Mares at featherweight
Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Adrien Broner at welterweight
Leo Santacruz vs. Fernando Montiel at super bantamweight
Marcos Maidana vs. Mike Alvarado at welterweight
Mikey Garcia vs. Abner Mares at featherweight
Ruslan Provodnikov vs. Adrien Broner at welterweight
Lucas Matthysse vs. Juan Manuel Marquez at welterweight

Maybe fight fans should ask Ares the Greek God of War to talk to these important boxing promoters to solve their differences by allowing their Gladiators to fight for supremacy. Or could it be possible the “chance to make big money” will finally bring them to make peace. One thing is for sure; if we the fight fans raise our voice both promoters will listen, but will they put an end to this Cold War?
