Image: Berto: I want to take Robert Guerrero's manhood from him on SaturdayBy Dan Ambrose: Former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KO’s) not only wants to beat WBC interim welterweight champion Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) on Saturday night in their fight on HBO from Ontario, California, but Berto says he wants to rip the 29-year-old Guerrero’s manhood from him in the process. In other words, Berto wants to really demoralize Guerrero to the point where he’s a physically and mentally beaten fighter on Saturday.

Berto said in his HBO promo video “I just wanna just go in there and just take his manhood from him. Everything he stands for. Everything he wants to be. Let’s take everything.”

That sounds like Berto is in a take no prisoners type of mode as he moves towards this fight. I guess it’s fair to say that Berto won’t ease off on Guerrero when he’s got him whipped at some point in the fight. We can expect Berto to go for the kill if he sees blood or if he spots weakness from Guerrero.

There are so many advantages that Berto has in this fight over Guerrero that it’s pretty mindbogglingly. Berto is younger, bigger, stronger, faster and the more experienced guy.

Guerrero moved up in weight to welterweight from lightweight seemingly for the wrong reasons. He wants to get the big fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, and the only way Guerrero would have a chance to do that is by moving up in weight. Guerrero started at featherweight and has now moved up four divisions to go after the big fights.

Pacquiao has captured titles in 8 divisions, but he’s had the advantage of lightning quick hand speed and excellent power. Guerrero is a slow fighter without much power. While he’s not moving up in weight as many classes as Pacquiao, he doesn’t have the speed, movement or power that helped Pacquiao be successful at this fight.
