Image: Tyson Fury denies making twitter comment about gays; Mundine vows to beat GealeBy Allan Fox: Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) is once again taking heat for some things that showed up on his twitter page. This one in particular was reportedly reference to him supposedly wanting gays to be shot dead, according to the Guardian.co.uk. Fury is denying that he made that comment.

Fury said to the Guardian.co.uk “I give my phone to my cousins at the [training] camp…they were laughing about calling some people some names..When I found out what they had done I was furious. I said: ‘Listen, it’s not a funny subject this.’…I’ve got friends of my own who are gay.”

It’s unclear what’s going to happen with this. Fury recently got a case of motormouth in between rounds of James DeGale’s fight with Hadillah Mohoumadi last Saturday night when Fury made some negative comments David Price and Tony Bellew. The British Boxing Board of Control are investigating Fury for those comments. It’s not going to look good for Fury if they add these latest comments to the previous ones.

Fury appears to be trying to hype a potential fight with Price, and he seems to be being a little over the top in doing so. Fury is succeeding in getting in boxing fans interested in the fight. However, he could end up doing too good of a job and facing a fine or a possible suspension from the BBBofC for getting a little out of hand with the hyping.

Fury is getting ready for a December 1st fight against a “Top 10 opponent that has yet to be named. It was thought that it might be #5 WBC heavyweight contender Tony Grano when Fury said that his opponent will be in the top #5. But now Fury is talking about his opponent being a top 10 fighter, so it could be a number of different fighters.

Mundine: I’m going to exterminate Geale

IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale (28-1, 15 KO’s) will be defending his IBF middleweight title against 37-year-old Anthony Mundine (44-4, 26 KO’s) on a still yet to be determined date in January. Geale and Mundine were able to get permission from the International Boxing Federation to let this fight go ahead in front of Geale’s mandatory defense against #1 IBF Sam Soliman. Mundine already beat Geale by a controversial 12 round split decision in May of 2009 in a fight that many boxing fans felt that Geale should have won.

Mundine really wants a victory over Geale, because it’ll help bring Mundine back after having done very little in the past four years since giving up his WBA World super middleweight title.

Mundine said this about his upcoming fight with Geale: “I want to prove that the last one wasn’t a fluke…I’m going to exterminate him.”

Geale is fighting on a really high level now coming off of a 12 round decision win over Felix Sturm last month to capture the WBA Super World middleweight title. If Mundine is going to win this fight like he did their previous bout in 2009, then Mundine is going to have to elevate his game over the last performance because Geale has improved since then, whereas Mundine has clearly slipped a couple of notches.
