Haye retired last year after a loss to IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, and said that he had previously made a promise to himself as a young teenager that he would retire when he turned 31.

It seemed like a crazy thing to do and many people, including Wladimir, felt that there was little chance that Haye would stay retired for good. Sure enough, Haye came back last July and defeated Dereck Chisora by a 5th round TKO after having sat out of the ring for exactly 12 months. Haye is now trying to get a fight against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko before Haye retires again. However, it’s not looking very good at this point that Haye will be able to get that fight because Vitali is reportedly in good position to win a political seat in the Ukrainian parliament in this months’ elections. If Vitali wins the election hes talked about retiring.

With Vitali possibly off the table, Haye will have to make up his mind if he wants to fight one of the following heavyweights:

David Price
Kubrat Pulev
Tyson Fury
Alexander Povetkin
Thomas Adamek
Chris Arreola

Of that bunch only Price and Fury will bring in good money for Haye, but those are potentially tough fights for Haye because of how much taller they are compared to Haye.

It doesn’t look like Haye wants to fight either Fury or Price. Perhaps the best fight for Haye would be one against Adamek. However, Adamek doesn’t have a title belt in his possession right now and it’s unclear how much public are there for this kind of fight between Adamek and Haye. Probably not a whole lot unless they stick the fight in Poland.
