Image: Classy Brook dispatches Saldivia in 3By Ed Hoyle: After winning a close yet undisputed twelve round decision against American Carson Jones in his last outing, hot British prospect, Kell Brook was for the first time in his career, seemingly under pressure to produce a performance against the cumbersome yet hard hitting Argentinean, Hector Saldivia.

Brook’s lack of training structure and poor dieting had been cited for the unsatisfactory Jones performance. Naturally new staff additions were made to Brook’s camp and with a fresh emphasis being placed on training and conditioning, an astonishingly ripped Brook looked to be in the best shape of his career to date.

From the first bell, Saldivia seemed content with marching Brook down, trying to land fearsome, albeit clumsy looking hooks on the inside. However, it was Brook’s sharp counters and pot shooting that prevailed, constantly catching his man coming in. The round’s dominance was sealed when Saldivia was dropped by a sharp Brook right.

Despite the game Saldivia constantly coming forward, as the second round progressed it became more and more apparent that he simply wasn’t in Brook’s league and it was not a question of who but when.

Brook completed his emphatic performance in odd circumstances in the third round. Saldivia walked into a stiff jab and in front of surprised onlookers was unable to continue. A representation of Saldivia’s poor chin or simply a showcase of Brook’s new found power? Either way, Brook showed his world class credentials in dispatching a top five contender with nonchalant ease.

After the final bell, Brook indicated his desire in fighting ex Welterweight champion Amir Khan, however it’s more likely he’ll face the winner of the Alexander v Bailey fight, later on this evening. After tonight’s performance it’s unlikely either American will fancy the prospect of fighting Brook.
