Image: Ricky Hatton's father not speaking about his comebackBy Sean McDaniel: If there were was ever any doubt about whether former two division world champion Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) would be making a comeback on November 24th against a still to be determined opponent in Manchester, England, it was answered by Ray Hatton, the father of Ricky, who says he doesn’t want to talk about the 33-year-old Hatton’s comeback.

Speaking with the Manila Standard, Ray said “It’s something I don’t want to comment about unfortunately. Me and my wife have our feelings about it and obviously in this case I don’t wish to say anything.”

The fact that Ray’s not speaking about Hatton’s comeback seems to give a pretty good indication that he’ll be coming back to the ring really soon to resume his once promising career.

Hatton has lost in the neighborhood of 40 pounds of flab and is looking incredibly good right now, the best he’s looked in years. Even when Hatton fought Manny Pacquiao in May of 2009, he didn’t look as good as he does now because Hatton looked like he’d taken off a massive amount of weight in a short period of time for that fight. His face didn’t look good and he seemed to lack power. In recent photos of Hatton he looks like he’s taken the weight off the right way by slowly losing it through a combination of diet and exercise.

The magical question is who will Hatton be fighting if he does in fact fight on November 24th? He’s been out of the ring for a long time and was knocked out in his last fight in 2009. You would have to guess that Hatton will be smart enough to realize that he has to take on a weak opponent so that he doesn’t risk getting knocked out. He’s going to be rusty due to the amount of time that he’s spent out of the ring, so he’s going to have to take on at least a B level opponent if not a C level guy. He really should look to face someone really weak and then look to stay active to build his way back up slowly. That’s the smart way to do.
