Image: Roach doesn't want Pacquiao-Marquez fourth fight to take placeBy Chris Williams: All signals are pointing to promoter Bob Arum picking out 39-year-old Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez (54-6-1, 39 KO’s) for Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KO’s) to fight next in a non-title fight on December 8th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Arum likes the fight, likes the kind of money it can bring in on pay per view on HBO, and likes that Mexican fans will likely want to see the fight in high numbers even though it’s a tired match-up that’s already taken place three times in the past.

One person who doesn’t like the idea of Pacquiao and Marquez fighting for a fourth time is Freddie Roach, the trainer for Pacquiao, who doesn’t see it as a good fight for Pacquiao right now.

Roach told RingTV “I don’t like that fight. It’s a very difficult fight [for Pacquiao]. I think we’d go in three to four rounds down already.”

Roach, of course, is talking about the judges, perhaps wanting to make up for the three prior fights between Marquez and Pacquiao in which Marquez appeared to win but found himself losing two out of the three, would perhaps bend over backwards to give Marquez rounds. I don’t know if that’s the case. If anything, I think the judges will make sure that the fight is scored well.

The judges will probably keep a close eye on Pacquiao to see if he tries to steal rounds in the last seconds like he did in his loss to Tim Bradley last June. If Pacquiao can’t fight hard for three minutes of every round like in his last fight against Bradley, then the judges will probably do their job and give the rounds to Marquez.

I’m with Roach on this one. I don’t see Pacquiao fight Marquez again, but not because it’s going to be a hard fight for Pacquiao. That’s a crummy excuse for not wanting to put Pacquiao in with Marquez. What is Roach looking for? Does he just want an easy fight for him? I just want to see someone new fight Pacquiao.

Marquez has already had a chance three times, and while it’s sad that judges never gave him the wins that many people felt he deserved, I still don’t want to see them fight again. I don’t think the judges will ever give Marquez the fight, so it’s not even interesting to watch because I can tell how it’s going to go. Marquez will dominate Pacquiao and then lose by a controversial decision.
