Image: Deontay Wilder coud be fighting on December 15th on ShowtimeBy Scott Gilfoid: Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions told RingTV that unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) could be fighting on December 15th in a “Night of The Olympians” on Showtime. Wilder doesn’t have an opponent but Schaefer is working on it. There’s still a slight chance that the 26-year-old Wilder could fight unbeaten heavyweight prospect Bryant Jennings (15-0, 7 KO’s) in that fight. However, I doubt it unless the two fighter’s promoters can iron out the money issues.

Wilder and Jennings have been battling on twitter the past couple of days but the bickering kind of stopped when the the fighter’s promoters were unable to come up with a fast agreement for a fight between them.

Wilder looked good in his last fight against Damon McCreary in a 2nd round TKO on September 8th of this month. Wilder’s power was breathtaking as he dropped McCreary down three times before the fight was eventually halted.

There are a lot of boxing fans that are giving Wilder a lot of stick because of his quick knockouts and his less than spectacular opposition since turning pro in 2008. However, Wilder has had problems getting the better fighters to agree to fight him. It’s like his reputation has gotten out about his incredible power so that the top contenders think twice about wanting to get in the ring with him. Wilder hasn’t much luck in getting anyone to fight him. He was hoping to fight Tyson Fury, but Fury hasn’t shown any interest in fighting Wilder for some reason. Wilder sees it as fear that holds Fury back.

You have to consider the best prospect in the heavyweight division right now. He’s got everything – size, speed, power and boxing ability.

The one thing that Wilder is missing is experience and the only he’s going to get that is when some of the top fighters are willing to fight him.
