Travis Walker looking to end Tomasz Adamek’s heavyweight title dream

By Jason Kim: 35-year-old former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (46-2, 28 KO’s) is hoping to get another shot at the heavyweight world title next year so that he capture one of the straps after having failed in his first attempt last year in a 10th round TKO defeat to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last September in Poland.

Adamek is tirelessly working his way back to another title shot and has already won two fights since the loss to Klitschko. On September 8th, Adamek will be looking for his third consecutive win when he takes on 6’4 1/2″, hard hitting Travis Walker (39-7-1, 31 KO’s) on September 8th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Walker doesn’t see himself as just another victim on Adamek’s resume, he doesn’t see himself as another stepping stone opponent for Adamek to step on as he moves forward to another Klitschko clash. Walker sees himself as beating Adamek, and he knows full well that he’s going to have to knock Adamek out to make sure that he gets credit for beating him. Adamek is coming off of a very questionable win against Eddie Chambers last June in Newark in a fight where Adamek was hit all night long by clean right hands from Chambers.

Adamek ended up throwing more punches, but his accuracy was horrible, he looked sloppy and fat, and he had no defense for Chambers’ right hands. Walker liked what he saw in that fight, because he found an area where Adamek is vulnerable. Walker is a much bigger puncher than the 205 pound Chambers, and if he can land his huge right hands on Adamek’s jaw all night long the fight could end early.
