Maddalone has a chance against Fury on Saturday

Image: Maddalone has a chance against Fury on SaturdayBy Scott Gilfoid: I’m starting to change my mind about unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (18-0, 13 KO’s) being able to blow out 38-year-old journeyman Vinny Maddalone (35-7, 26 KO’s) on Saturday night in their bout at the Hand Arena, Clevedon, Somerset, UK.

Fury, 24, looks like he’s been a starvation diet in getting ready for this fight, and he doesn’t look at good for this one. He looks like a fat guy that dieting for the wrong reasons. Fury looks like he’s taken off too much weight for this fight, and I’d guess from looking at him, he’s down to the 220s. It’s too light for him, and I think he could knocked cold if Maddalone is able to hit him with some heavy shots, and take the fight into the second half of the bout.

Fury said recently he didn’t like the way his body looked when he looked in the mirror. So instead of slowly losing weight, he dropped a ton of weight in a short period of time. That’s something you never want to do especially if you’re an athlete who depends on your strength to get by. Fury isn’t facing 41-year-old Martin Rogan on Saturday who Fury could just fiddle around with by beating him fighting southpaw.

Maddalone is a decent C level fighter, and he’s not someone you want to starve yourself before fighting. If Fury had good power or hand speed then it wouldn’t matter if he starved himself, because he’d at least have those assets to fall back on. However, Fury has no power and zero hand speed. He’s just a guy that gets over by being a lot bigger than his smaller opponents. But when you starve yourself and lose a lot of weight, it strips off muscle and that causes you to be weak and tire quickly. It also can hurt your ability to take shots. I sure hope Fury get knocked cold in this fight but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens.
