Image: Khan: Haye is going to shut Chisora outBy Sean McDaniel: Amir Khan has the bad luck of fighting on the same night at David Haye in his huge bout against Dereck Chisora on July 14th next month. Khan will be facing WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, and that fight pales in comparison to the Haye-Chisora fight.

Khan said this to the Dailystar.co.uk “David is going to easily win and just walk straight through Chisora. I think he’s doing it just to shut him up, and Chisora needs shutting and throwing out.”

Haye has kind of been pressured into the fight because of all the trash talking that Chisora did about him at the Vitali Klitschko-Chisora post fight press conference last February where Chisora said a few negative things about Haye, then threatened to give him a couple of slaps. Chisora followed this by taking off his jacked and making the mistake of walking up on Haye when he in an agitated state. Haye didn’t waste time listening to whatever Chisora was going to say to him and belted almost immediately. They ended up on the floor and were separated without much going on. However, the fight caught the attention of the boxing public and they made it clear that they wanted to see the fight take place. Chisora’s promoter Frank Warren was clever enough to put the fight together, even with the British Boxing Board of Control refusing to sanction it because of neither fighter having a boxing license.

Khan followed up with “I don’t think it [Haye-Chisora] will take any limelight away from my fight.”

I think it will. Khan is favored to beat Garcia, who isn’t that well known at this early stage in his boxing career. In contrast, both Chisora and Haye are stars in their own right. If a boxing fan was to make a pick of which fight they’ll watch on July 14th, I imagine the Haye vs. Chisora fight will be the one because it promises fireworks and it has two stars involved.
