It came as a shock that they have decided to do this now even though Hatton Promotions was voted best European promotional company.

The next show on June 16th will be the last one that Sky will broadcast. Hatton himself feels as if he has been let down by Sky after all the years the popular Manchester fighter has been part of team Sky.

Hatton gave Sky many huge events as a fighter. His rise to the top of the light-welterweight division was seen by millions on Sky. Then he fought Kostya Zstyu, possibly one of the greatest achievements in British Boxing history. He made Sky millions of pounds and set PPV records by fighting the likes of Floyd Mayweather (Sky’s biggest ever fight) and Manny Pacquiao. And now as a promoter he has given some great cards to Sky which have been watched by millions of people.

Sky want quick results and want PPV shows now but if they had stuck with Hatton then in a few years they would have the biggest promotional company in Europe and plenty of PPV worthy bouts. Hatton has assured fans that he will be on telly again next season so it is Sky’s loss.

With everything that Sky are doing it is hurting boxing. After dropping Hatton (which will not sit well with fans) it made me think about the situation more which will be talked about in depth in another article. Give me your opinion, what are Sky doing?
