Image: Fury sees Chisora beating Haye on July 14thBy Sean McDaniel: Former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury believes that David Haye (25-2, 23 KO’s) has bit off more than he can chew in facing hard hitting Dereck Chisora (15-3, 9 KO’s) on July 14th, provided that the fight is able to go ahead without any interruptions.

Fury said to Boxrec.com “The reason David Haye is coming back is to prove that he’s a man…He wasn’t a man against [Wladimir] Klitschko. And because he needs to prove he’s a man, he’s going to have to get involved with in a tear up with Dereck Chisora. Getting involved with Dereck Chisora is the wrong thing to do, and Haye will lose.”

By downgrading Haye, Fury seems to be giving himself more credit that he deserves for beating a fat an out of shape 260 pound Chisora last year in July. Chisora was only able to fight hard for more than three rounds before he gassed out and basically just hung around for the remainder of the fight taking punishment from Fury. However, Chisora still was able to stagger Fury at one point in the fight with a big right hand, and it would be interesting to have seen what an in shape Chisora would have been able to do with Fury.

Chisora is going to have problems with Haye’s hand speed and mobility. Chisora doesn’t move around well, and he’s more of a one punch at a time fighter when working on the outside against his opponents. Chisora prefers to fight on the inside where he camps out, and is able to get rest breaks in between combinations. That’s the wrong style to beat a fighter like Haye, because he doesn’t fight on the inside.

Haye can briefly fight in close but he’s dangerous when he’s there because he’s throwing fast combinations with a lot of power. Chisora can’t match Haye’s speed and power in combination punching. Chisora can punch hard, but he can only with big power when he loads up on his shots. When he’s throwing combinations, he’s little more than an average puncher at best.
