Image: Chisora: Bradley is going to beat PacquiaoBy Chris Williams: Heavyweight Dereck Chisora doesn’t think WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has his head in the sport anymore, and because of that he sees him losing to Tim Bradley next month on June 9th.

Chisora said to eastsideboxing.com’s On the Ropes Boxing Radio Program “I think Manny Pacquiao might lose that one there. Well, I think that boy [Pacquiao] lost his last fight [to Juan Manuel Marquez] because his head wasn’t right, and this time Bradley’s going to come and he’s definitely going to hurt Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao don’t really like to fight no more. He’s just in it for the sake of being in it. He don’t want it no more.”

I disagree in part with what Chisora is saying. I don’t think Pacquiao lost to Marquez last November because he’s not mentally into fighting anymore. I think he lost because he just isn’t as good as Marquez. I realize that the judges gave Pacquiao the win, but the rest of the world saw it differently, so it was one of those cases where the boxing community nullified Pacquiao’s win by seeing it as a loss.

It’s kind of sad really because the judges didn’t do Pacquiao a favor by giving him the win because it’s still seen as a loss. It’s like getting trophy you don’t deserve. I do think Pacquiao isn’t as motivated for some of the guys that his promoter Bob Arum has been feeding him in recent years, and who can blame him? There was nothing interesting about Arum putting Pacquiao in with some of his Top Rank stable fighters like Antonio Margarito and Joshua Clottey. Those fights were a sick joke, and Pacquiao’s catchweight fight against Miguel Cotto wasn’t much better.

Bradley is a lot like Marquez with his counter punching ability, and he’s a lot younger than Pacquiao as well. I see him exposing Pacquiao badly on June 9th and fighting well enough to deserve the win. Do I think he’s going to get the win? No, I think the judges will do another Marquez job where they give it to Pacquiao despite him appearing to lose.
