That’s the big fight that all of boxing wants to see and the fight that will bring Mayweather huge cash. If he’s lucky, there will be two Mayweather-Pacquiao fights with each but bringing both fights $40 million to $50 million each.

Mayweather can’t get tripped up by the slow and limited Cotto on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather needs to punish Cotto, tear away at his old scar tissue to cut him up and get a cut stoppage over a bloody champion. Mayweather probably won’t be able to stop Cotto on punches alone. It’s likely going to take a real methodical beating from Mayweather where he carves Cotto up like a thanksgiving turkey in order to get a stoppage from bleeding cuts. Cotto is kind of tricky nowadays and he may prolong the fight to keep from getting stopped.

Mayweather has to stay on top of Cotto and not let him run around the ring trying to jab and score points by landing the harder shots. Mayweather can’t match Cotto’s power and he shouldn’t even try. It’s better off making him miss and look bad while ripping away at him with fast combinations to get a referee to step in at some point.

Once Cotto is beaten down, there really isn’t many options for Mayweather aside from Pacquiao.
