Image: Fury sees himself facing one of the Klitschkos in 2013, expects to win in styleBy William Mackay: Unbeaten 23-year-old heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (17-0, 12 KO’s) sees himself taking on an beating one of the Klitshko brothers next year in 2013 and doing a good job of it. He still feels he needs a little bit more experience before he takes on the task of dethroning the Klitshkos, so he could be within three fights of a big title shot.

Fury has a fight coming up early next month against 40-year-old Martin Rogan (14-2, 7 KO’s) at the Odyssey Arena, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. This fight should be a good test to get Fury ready for the hard shots he’ll be seeing against the Klitshkos.

Fury said to the dailymail.co.uk “If it’s Wladimir, I will give him a much better fight than Haye did. If it’s Vitali, I will treat him with respect and focus my energy on fighting him in the ring. By then I won’t be just in there to make up the numbers like Haye and Chisora. I’ll be able to take either of them out in style.”

That sounds hard to stomach, because Fury is seemingly far behind either of the Klitschkos in talent right now. Vitali is obviously slowing down as we saw in his win over Dereck Chisora last month, but he still has a lot of skills and would be far too good for Fury next year unless Fury makes dramatic improvements from now before meeting Vitali or Wladimir next year like he says he will.

Fury needs to put his focus on his April 14th fight against Rogan because this is a home fight for Rogan and he’s going to be really bringing. Fury’s defensive skills are pretty limited and Rogan will likely find it very easy to land his best power shots in the first six rounds of action before he starts to wear down. In Rogan’s two losses against Sax Sexton, Rogan often had problems trying to land his shots due to Sexton’s excellent jab that kept Rogan on the outside. Fury doesn’t have a great jab and it should be pretty easy for Rogan to get in close whenever he wants to land his best right hands.
