Image: Bute will quiet Froch's fans by brutally stoppng him on May 26thBy Scott Gilfoid: May 26th will start out with a lot of loud pro-Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) British fans making a lot of noise in support of their hero at the Nottingham Arena in Froch’s title challenge against IBF super super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24 KO’s).

But things will go terribly wrong for Froch and his fans when he runs into a peach of an right uppercut thrown by Bute that will send Froch down face first on the canvas.

Although Froch has gotten up from being knocked down in the past, this time there won’t be any getting up until after the referee has given Froch the 10 count. I see all of this happening and I’m pretty sure that’s what the reality is going to be on May 26th. Froch is going to get blasted out in front of his own British fans at the Nottingham Arena. Picture a lot of loud horn blowing from fans singing football songs before Froch gets hit, and then afterwards you’ll be able to hear a pin drop as fans suddenly realize Froch has been knocked out.

This isn’t going to be just one of those little knockouts where a guy takes a knee or slides off the ropes onto the floor like molasses pouring from a bottle. I see this as a brutal KO where Bute poleaxes Froch with a tremendous right uppercut that knocks Froch out completely sending him down face first. It’ll be like the Julian Jackson KO of Terry Norris except that Bute won’t need to add a parting shot while Froch is on his way down to the canvas.

I hope I’m wrong about my prediction because I really want Froch to win so that Froch and Andre Dirrell can have a rematch in 2012. Dirrell says he wants the rematch and he deserves it, but there won’t be any point if Froch gets poleaxed by Bute. I’m pretty good with KO predictions unfortunately and that’s bad news for Froch. I just hope his loving fans don’t take it too hard. He’ll be back. They can put him on a soft diet of 2nd and 3rd tier opposition to build his confidence back up.
