Khan is going to have to start pressing his promoters at Golden Boy for them to find another opponent because the temporary charm campaign to get Peterson back in the ring appears to be an utter failure.

Khan was beaten by Peterson last December in a close fight in which Khan did a lot of running, holding and shoving that ultimately cost him two points. He didn’t feel he served the penalizations and also felt he should have gotten credit for an early knockdown where Peterson was seen tripping over the leg of the referee.

Shane Mosley has been mentioned as a potential opponent for Khan’s next fight at welterweight. However, the talk was that Khan’s team wanted Mosley to fight him at a 145 pound catchweight, and that’s not going to happen Mosley said. They’re going to have to make it 147 or maybe even 150 for Mosley to agree to it.

Khan says he’s going to move up in weight to 147 if he can’t get the Peterson rematch. He wants to try and get a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., but that doesn’t seem like a realistic option given some of the recent comments Mayweather made about not liking Khan’s running and holding style of fighting. This means that if Khan moves up in weight, he’ll have to fight other guys and try to create a demand for a Mayweather-Khan fight. The thing is Khan won’t be able to achieve this on the cheap

Here are some of the likely options Golden Boy will pick out for Khan’s next fight:

• Shane Mosley
• Rafal Jackiewicz
• Carlos Quintana
• Luis Carlos Abregu
• Brad Solomon
• Sebastian Lujan
