Roach usually waits a while before he starts trashing his fighters’ opponent, but in this case, Roach is already starting with the trash talk.

Bradley told mydesert.com “That doesn’t bother me, man. It just shows Freddie is a little worried about this fight. That stuff doesn’t get under my skin. People have said worse things about me before. He can complain and call me a dirty fighter, but at the end of the day we still have to get it on.”

I think Roach isn’t just a little worried; I think he’s a lot worried. A loss for his fighter Pacquiao could mean smaller paydays for the Filipino star and bring him a step closer to retirement. Obviously, with the bundle of loot that Roach gets for training Pacquiao for each fight, Roach clearly wants to make sure the money stream continues to flow. And because of that, you see Roach talking a lot in the media hoping some of it will lead to Bradley questioning himself and losing something mentally.

Roach tries this trick every fight, but thing of it is, he really doesn’t need to most of the time because Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum does such a good job of mostly putting Pacquiao in guys that he can beat for one reason or another. The stuff that Roach does with trash talking is hardly needed but he does it anyway.

I guess he just wants to cover all bases in case it does work. If Pacquiao gets beaten by Bradley, it’s going to be a huge blow to Roach. He already saw his guys Jorge Linares and Amir Khan spanked recently. If you add Pacquiao to the list then some people are going to likely start questioning Roach’s ability to train guys.
