Chad Dawson could face Pascal next with the winner fighting Bernard Hopkins

Hopkins suffered a shoulder injury after falling off the back of Dawson last October in a 2nd round TKO win for Dawson.

The only question about this idea of a Dawson-Pascal fight is whether Hopkins will go along with fighting the winner of the bout. He may not want to mix it up with Dawson again, because Hopkins didn’t look good in the two rounds of action. He may be better off avoiding Dawson and looking to find a softer target more to his liking. Dawson looked too big, too fast and too technical for Hopkins in their brief fight.

Dawson lost a fight to Pascal last year in August 2010. Dawson was coming on in the 11th round and had Pascal badly hurt when Pascal’s head collided with Dawson’s face and a bad cut was opened above Dawson’s left eye. The fight was then halted immediately without Dawson’s trainer being given a chance to try and stop the bleeding.

Pascal has already fought Hopkins twice, fighting to a 12 round draw in the first fight and then losing a 12 round decision to Hopkins in the rematch last May. Pascal fought poorly in both fights by fighting in spurts instead of a constant pace, which is how you beat the 46-year-old Hopkins.
