Image: Roach: Khan and Pacquiao will probably never fightBy Scott Gilfoid: Freddie Roach recently said that a fight between his fighters Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao is a possibility for the future.

But now Roach is saying he doesn’t see the fight happening ever because of the friendship between Pacquiao and Khan. How touching.

Roach told thesun.co.uk “I don’t see it happening. I don’t think Manny and Amir will want to fight because they have so much mutual respect. They have some fun together but I think they have enough respect that they won’t want to do that.”

I wonder what fun Roach is talking about. It can’t be sparring because Pacquiao’s advisor Michael Konz recently said that Khan and Pacquiao have only sparred once in the past and that was it.

I think Khan and Pacquiao may decide that it’s best that they fight in the future because it doesn’t look like Khan is going to get a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

That’s the fight that Khan has been talking about for the past year nonstop, but Khan hasn’t helped himself by taking soft fights against Zab Judah, Paul McCloskley and now Lamont Peterson. Khan needs to take on the more serious threats like Marcos Maidana, Breidis Prescott and Lucas Matthysse instead of the soft path. Khan is taking on guys he can easily beat and is fighting boring one-sided fights and not looking good. He looked bad in the McCloskey fight, and won the Judah fight with a controversial shot on the belt line while holding Judah’s head down with his left arm. It looked illegal as heck, and pretty shocking that the referee let it happen without taking points off or disqualifying Khan.
