Katsidis was ahead of the fight at the time but was taken out after getting knocked down in the 10th.

Why Katsidis wants to waste time on fighting Casamayor again is the big question. The time to fight Casmayor again is long past, as he’s not the same fighter he was three years ago after beating Katsidis. The guy 40 now and has lost two out of his last four fights. It’s a bad move to take on Casamayor now because Katsidis won’t get much credit if he beats him, and if he loses again, which is a possibility because Casamayor still has a little bit left in the tank, Katsidis will look even worse.

It’s one thing getting knocked out by a 37-year-old fighter, but quite another thing to get beaten by a 40-year-old who has lost two out of his last four fights like Casmayor. I think it’s a mistake if Katsidis takes this fight. There’s been talk that Katsidis was interested in taking on Erik Morales or Amir Khan. Those are understandable fights because both are popular fighters and the boxing public would be interested in those fights. But I can’t see much interest in a Katsidis-Casamayor fight, because Casamayor has slipped off the radar screen.

Katsidis looked impressive in stopping Michael Lozada (38-9-1, 30 KO’s) in the 3rd round on Saturday night, taking him out with a powerful left hand to the body. Katsidis focused more on body punching in this fight, which was his first fight at light welterweight. It was great to see Katsidis winning and fighting with more patience and not just trying to rush out to get a quick knockout. Katisids seems to have learned from his defeats to Robert Guerrero and Juan Manuel Marquez, and knows that he can’t just abandon his defense when attacking his opponents.
