Image: Froch unhappy with having his training disruptedBy Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KO’s) is unhappy that he’s having to take time off from training for his October 29th Super Six finals bout in order to meet with the media at press conferences to help promote his fight against WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (24-0, 13 KO’s) at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Froch doesn’t like his training to be interrupted. Here it comes. I think we may be seeing the early signs of an excuse for if and when Froch gets beaten by Ward in October. I hope Froch doesn’t use this as an excuse. That would be so sad. Somehow I knew there was going to be some bellyaching from Froch about his training disrupted. It just had to be. I wonder if Froch needs any cheese with his whine.

Speaking with Sky Sports News, Froch said “I’d rather be in the gym training. This has been a hindrance to my training program…It’s not ideal, it’s not great. Do I enjoy it? No.”

There it is, folks. Froch needs to buck up, and take the pain of having to promote the fight. If this all it takes for him to lose to Ward then he’s not in his class. This is starting to remind me of Froch and his fight against Mikkel Kessler where Froch was unhappy with the Iceland volcano because it was making it difficult for him to get to Denmark to fight Kessler. Supposedly it briefly messed up his training for the fight. Froch needs to be a warrior like Ward, and keep as stiff upper lip during some of the less than pleasant things that go into marketing this fight. It can’t be all training. Look at Muhammad Ali. He was one of the best in the business in promoting a fight and he spent a lot of time drumming up interest. It never affected his ability to go and win, and it shouldn’t for Froch either unless he’s really not talented enough to begin with.
