By Chris Williams: For boxing fans that want to see unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 KO’s) in action against WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO’s) on September 17th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada, tickets for the fight go on sale today at 1 P.M. ET/10:00 A.M. PT. The fight is going to be huge with Mayweather taking on one of the biggest punchers in the welterweight division in 24-year-old Ortiz, who is coming off a great victory over former WBC welterweight champ Andre Berto in April.

That fight could end up being the fight of the year, as both Ortiz and Berto were knocked down in the fight. Ortiz dragged himself off the canvas both times to come back and hurt Berto with hard left hands.

Mayweather hasn’t fought since dominating Shane Mosley last year in May in a very impressive performance from Mayweather. The Mayweather-Ortiz fight could be a tune-up for Mayweather for a mega-fight against Manny Pacquiao next year. Mayweather mentioned that he’s ready to fight Pacquiao, and this would be the ideal fight for Mayweather to get prepared for the heat that Pacquiao will be bringing. Ortiz arguably punches harder than Pacquiao and has the same southpaw stance.

Mayweather should solve it rather quickly, but Ortiz’s power and youth could make things a little more tricky for Mayweather. This is what’s so good about this fight. Ortiz has enough going for him that he has a chance to beat Mayweather if he can apply pressure and force Mayweather to fight harder than he’s been accustomed to fighting in the past three years. Personally, I see Mayweather winning this fight without any problems but you can’t count out Ortiz because of his power and youth. He knocks everyone down that he faces, win or lose.
