If Wladimir won’t agree to fight him, Haye says he’ll retire in October as he originally planned.

The Klitschkos would like for Haye to fight WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko first before any thoughts of Haye fighting Wladimir again. If Haye can win that fight, then he will obviously get his rematch with Wladimir. Unfortunately, Haye has no interest in fighting Vitali next and only wants the Wladimir rematch.

Haye doesn’t appear to want to work for the right to fight Wladimir again and wants him to hand him the rematch, even though Haye was never competitive in the fight. It’s asking a lot of Wladimir for him to agree to fight Haye immediately, because Wladimir would likely take a lot heat from boxing fans and from the media for fighting a guy again that he just dominated.

It would be like Wladimir fighting Eddie Chambers or Chris Byrd again after dominating them. Some boxing fans would want to see but for the most part fans would be appalled at seeing a needless rematch like this happen. Haye’s selling point for a rematch with Wladimir is an odd one. Haye has been saying that if Wladimir wants a chance to try and knock him out this time and get another good payday then he needs to fight him again. That’s pretty poor way of trying to entice a fighter to give him a rematch. It’s also not exactly something that will appeal to boxing fans, because why would they watch another mismatch just to see Wladimir try and knockout a small cruiserweight-sized fighter like Haye when the first fight was already mismatch?
