Haye: The Wladimir fight may be over real quick

Image: Haye: The Wladimir fight may be over real quickBy William Mackay: One thing you got to like about WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 Ko’s), he’s always been pretty transparent about what he plans on doing both in the ring and out of it. Before his fight with John Ruiz, he said he was going to go out and try crush him immediately and that’s what he at least tried to do.

Before his fight against Nikolay Valuev, Haye said he’s box him and use movement, and that’s what he did. And now Haye is saying he plans on jumping IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) at the start of their July 2nd fight and you have to believe that is exactly what Haye will be attempting to do.

Whether Haye succeeds at blitzing Wladimir early or not is another matter, but at least Haye seems to be determined to try. He’s telling everyone that he’s going to jump Wladimir in the first couple of rounds, and that’s probably how the fight will go. Haye can’t stand getting hit and as hard as Wladimir punches with his jab, left hook and right hand, I don’t think Haye wants any part of being methodically broken down by the tall 6’6″ Wladimir.

Haye said this on his twitter page yesterday:”I’m in a great place physically. This fight may be over REAL quick. I’m coming to bring the ruckus.”

It looks like Haye is going to come out with both guns blazing and take his chances that his better hand speed and better power in the earlier rounds will see him through to a quick victory. Goodness knows, Haye’s chances will be dwindling dramatically as the fight progresses, because Wladimir’s huge height and weight advantage would start to show their effects on Haye’s face. Being the much smaller fighter, Haye will have to fight all out to get the win, while Wladimir can coast more because of his size. He’s been in with much bigger guys than Haye, and may be able to man handle Haye by the midpoint of the fight.
