In the latest boxing news, Ross Puritty, who stopped Wladimir in 1998, James DeGale, and Tyson Fury are all picking Wladimir to beat the 6’2″ Haye on July 2nd at the Imtech Arena in Hamburg, Germany. They realize that Wladimir has too much size, talent and experience for the pumped up cruiserweight Haye and they see Wladimir dominating Haye.

In an article at the sportinglife.co.uk, Puritty said “I think that Klitschko will win by technical knockout in the ninth round. He is too strong and uses his jab well.” Wladimir gave Puritty huge problems at the start of Wladimir’s career in a fight that Wladimir pounded Puritty for 10 rounds before running out of gas and getting stopped in the 11th. Oddly enough, Wladimir threw few jabs in that fight. It wasn’t until much later after Wladimir started training with Emanuel Steward that Wladimir began to use his powerful jab with any regularity.

DeGale, one of the best new prospects in the super middleweight division, said “If it goes past six rounds, I think Haye won’t get the decision in Germany moving around, especially against Klitschko.”

Wladimir won’t be winning because he’s being helped by the judges. He’ll win because he has much better boxing skills than Haye, and will be out-boxing him virtually every round. Haye can move around a lot and try to avoid getting hit, but he’ll get hit just the same. Haye is too top heavy and way too muscular to move around for long to make Wladimir miss with his jabs. It’s much easier to land his jabs than it will be for Haye to land one of his right hand hayemakers from the outside. Since Haye only has one lethal punch in his arsenal, that being his right, he’s not going to have a lot of options to try and win rounds. It’s going to be all or nothing for Haye.

Fury said this about the Haye-Klitschko fight: “I’m picking Klitschko to win by knockout, because of his size, his power and his speed. He is just the better man in every department.”

Fury knows how good Wladimir is because he’s sparred with him in the past, and found out first hand how good he.
