Wladimir: I will roll over Haye

Image: Wladimir: I will roll over HayeBy Scott Gilfoid: You almost have to feel sorry for WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) in his upcoming July 2nd fight with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladiimr Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s). He reminds me of a kid that has made the mistake of kicking a giant beehive and not really aware of what he’s dealing until it’s too late.

Wladimir says he’s going to come out and jab Haye to pieces with his powerful jab all night long and you have to believe him. Wladimir is bigger, stronger, more experienced and equally as fast as Haye. The only thing Haye has got going for him is he’s slightly younger, but not young enough for it to make a real difference in the fight.

Wladimir said this on Tuesday’s meeting with Haye: “I will roll over this guy. It’s not about my legacy. I enjoy the challenge and I care about the performance.”

Haye is giving up way too much size in this fight. If you ignore Haye’s listed height of 6’3″ and look at how much shorter he is compared to Wladimir, Haye looks to be about 6’2″ at best. He’s a slightly taller version of Eddie Chambers with more muscle but roughly about the same size as Chambers. Haye has terrible punching technique and doesn’t seem capable of throwing a straight punch to save his life. About everything Haye throws has a loop to it, making it easy to pick up for fighters with good defensive skills like Wladimir. Haye doesn’t really jab much, so that’s not going to be a factor in this fight. It’s come down to Haye’s pot shots and Wladimir’s jab. Since the jabs will be coming in a straight line from a fighter with much longer arms, I don’t see Haye being able to get many of his pots shots to their target in this fight. For this reason, I see this as a total slaughter with Wladimir making easy work of Haye.
