Why was old footage of Mosley’s fights shown on Fight Camp 360 rather than recent footage?

By Chris Williams: If you were to have looked at the fight video footage that was chosen of Shane Mosley for the first episode of the Fight Camp 360 Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley last weekend, you’d think that Mosley was still in his late 20s to the very start of his 30s instead of his actual age of 39.

This seems like the old bait and switch to me. Boxing fans, the casual variety, will see the young Mosley fighting Oscar De La Hoya on the Fight Camp 360 clips and some of them might think that’s how Mosley looks now. Boy, will they be in for a shock on May 7th when they see how much he’s aged and become frozen.

Mosley will be turning 40 in September, but it was interesting that the fight video that Fight Camp 360 decided to use of Mosley was early, early footage of him instead of video of his last two fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sergio Mora. Mosley looked horrible in his last two fights, losing badly to Mayweather by a lopsided decision last year and then getting what many people saw as a gift draw with Mora.

I saw Mosley losing that fight and looking every bit of his 39-years, if not more. I have no idea why Mosley was chosen as Pacquiao’s next opponent rather than someone more relevant that’s actually looking good and still winning fights. Pacquiao and his management team could have fought Mosley years ago when he was still fighting well. Why did they wait until now to fight him?

The last time I checked, Mosley hasn’t won a fight in over two long years. Can you believe that? Why in the heck is Pacquiao fighting this guy? He’s clearly struggling. Isn’t there someone more cogent for Pacquiao to fight than this? I don’t like mismatches that are mismatches coming in the door.

This fight is a mismatch on paper, and it’s laughable to see Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach saying this is going to be a tough fight and shutting the doors on Pacquiao’s training sessions. I just wonder who will be next after they beat up this aging fighter?
