Haye pretty much can’t find anything positive to say about his Ukrainian opponent, but the last thing that you would think Haye would say is that he’s more of a boxer than Wladimir. Haye has always been a slugger, and looks slightly sluggish as he moves around the ring with his body-building physique. He doesn’t look smooth on his feet and lacks a consistent jab that you normally see from fighters that you would consider to be boxers.

In an interview with Sky Sports News today, Haye said “I believe I’m more of a boxer than he [Wladimir] is. I started competing when I was 10, he started a lot later than I did. He comes from a martial arts background, so his first love I don’t believe is boxing, mind is. I think the difference will be shown on either June 25th or July 2nd.”

I think Haye has got Wladimir and Vitali mixed up. It was Vitali who started with the martial arts initially and picked up boxing later on. Wladimir was involved with boxing at an early age. But whatever the case, he’s clearly more of a boxer than Haye.

If you look at Haye’s game, he’s a pot shot slugger. He’s not a slugger that throws a lot of punches but rather one that looks to land one punch at a time, hoping to stun his opponents. If he can hurt then, then he goes after them like a shark and tries to rip them to pieces. He’s mostly fought limited cruiserweight competition, however, and his opposition at heavyweight has been dreadful to say the least.
