Image: Froch still yapping about a Froch-Johnson, Haye-TBA doubleheaderBy Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) seems really determined to have his May 21st fight against Glen Johnson be part of a doubleheader with WBA heavyweight champion David Haye’s fight against whoever he hand picks to defend his belt against. I don’t see what the point in. Froch is fighting in the United States. He should just be happy that his fight is being shown on Sky and Showtime, and let it rest. Froch needs to stand on his own two feet with Haye’s help.

Why push to have the Haye fight be part of a doubleheader? Doesn’t Froch think British fans will tune in to watch his fight against Johnson? Froch needs to quit bellyaching about this and start worrying about learning how to protect from getting his bell rung. It won’t do Froch any good if Haye is fighting as part of a doubleheader if he’s going to get knocked out by Johnson. It’ll just mean that more people will tune in to see Froch get knocked out and humiliated. He’s better off training like a madman, forgetting about when or where the Haye fight will take place, and just hope he can win the fight without getting knocked cold.

Froch said this to Gareth Davies at the telegraph.co.uk: “It’s all falling into place, with my defense scheduled against Glen Johnson and David [Haye] with a venue but no opponent.” Oh brother, this guy needs to quit thinking so hard because it’s going to mess him up. Let Haye wherever he wants. You can’t live off of Haye’s fame, and besides, he’s probably going to pick out soft opponent so he doesn’t get knocked out again. Heck, Haye has been fighting heavyweights from 36-39 since moving up to the heavyweight division. I expect him to stay on that course.
