Dirrell, 27, revealed that he’s seeing his Doctor for what he hopes will be the last time so that he can get back in the ring and resume his promising career. Dirrell hasn’t fought since last year when he was hurt by a punch from his Super Six tournament opponent Arthur Abraham in April 2010.

Dirrell was badly hurt from the shot, and experienced a number of side effects from the punch in the months after. After seeing Doctor in the Michigan area, Dirrell was advised to stay out of the ring until his symptoms disappeared.

Dirrell had this to say in his twitter account on Tuesday: “I’ve arrived at Dr. Shaw’s office for my latest and hopefully my last check-up. I’ve been feeling great, so wish me the best!!!”

This is so great. Dirrell is an amazing talent with boxing skills that are very similar to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Boxing needs a healthy Dirrell, and once he gets back in action, I can see him cleaning up the super middleweight division in a short period of time. I just want to see Dirrell avenge his defeat by Carl Froch and prove his greatness.

Dirrell dominated Froch, but lost a controversial 12 round split decision in what was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen before. I had Dirrell winning eight rounds to three with one even.

Dirrell may go after one of the champions in the near future, someone like IBF champion Lucian Bute or WBO title holder Robert Stieglitz.
