Arum is kidding himself if he thinks Bradley can fight Pacquiao in 2011 or 2012

By Dan Ambrose: Promoter Bob Arum is thinking about the possibility of Manny Pacquiao taking on WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley in 2011 or 2012.

That’s not going to happen unless Arum is okay with Pacquiao fighting Bradley after he gets beaten by Amir Khan. At this point, Bradley has to face Khan and once he does, Bradley is going to lose that fight. If Bradley dodges Khan, then, yes, he can fight Pacquiao, but what good is that fight?

Bradley won’t have enough popularity to make a Pacquiao-Bradley fight worthwhile unless Bradley faces Khan first and proves that he’s the best fighter in the division before the Pacquiao bout. You can’t hide Bradley until Pacquiao is free to fight him. Bradley just stunk out the joint against Alexander, and he needs a big win to make up for that. Khan is the only fighter, besides Marcos Maidana, that boxing fans really respect in the light welterweight division.

I can’t see Bradley hanging with either of those guys. I think Arum is getting excited over nothing about Bradley. He’s deeply upset when Bradley’s put in with Khan and he gets totally schooled. Arum needs to step back and take a good look at the Bradley-Alexander fight again and then take a look at Khan-Maidana.

It doesn’t take a genius to tell that Bradley would be in way over his head against Khan or Maidana. He’s shooting with blanks. He doesn’t have enough power to compete with either Khan and Maidana. It takes a puncher to beat Khan, and Bradley is the farthest thing from that. He’s a pitty pat puncher, lacks height, reach and speed.
