Image: Wladimir vs. Haye looking good for May or June, possibly in Germany - NewsBy Jim Dower: The negotiations between IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBA heavyweight champion David Haye are reportedly going good. Fightnews.com reports that the fight could be taking place in May or June with the venue being either Europe or Germany. It’s going to be a 50-50 split of the revenue. One of the problems that has to be worked out for Germany is squeezing the fight in between the soccer schedules in order to get the fight in one of the big stadiums in either Frankfurt or Dusseldorf.

Also, the date has to agree with RTL television in Germany and Sky Sports in England. However, it’s looking good that the fight will be taking place finally after all this time. Haye, 30, has the choice if which Klitschko brother to face and he chose Wladimir rather than his big brother WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. Haye supposedly is interested in fighting both of the brothers and unifying the titles if possible before retiring later on in the year in October when Haye turns 31.

Haye has been talking about wanting to fight the Klitschko brothers since 2008, but has been slow in turning his talk into action. This time, barring any injury for either fighter, it looks like the fight will finally be taking place. Haye has beaten a number of aging and fading heavyweights since moving up in weight. It’s unclear why Haye opted to fight only old heavyweights rather than younger ones with better skills, but it may end up hurting him against Wladimir. Haye could be in for a shock when he goes from facing old guys like Monte Barrett (38), Nikolay Valuev (36), John Ruiz (38), and Audley Harrison (39) to the younger and much more talented Wladimir.
