Image: Odlanier Solis says he's going to make Vitali Klitschko pay for causing problems with negotiationsBy Eric Thomas: Unbeaten WBC mandatory challenger Odlanier Solis (17-0, 12 KO’s) is not happy with the way that negotiations are going with World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 38 KO’s), and Solis says he’s going to make Vitali pay for it when they fight. Solis and his promoter are unhappy with the offer made to them by Klitschko’s promotional company, and they’ve responded with a counter off that’s been ignored by Vitali.

It now looks as if it will have to go to purse bids for the fight. Solis, a former 2004 Olympic heavyweight Gold Medalist for Cuba, isn’t happy and is going to take it out on Vitali when they fight. Solis said “Vitali is trying to take advantage of me. I will make him pay for that. This is not about money. It’s about respect. The Klitschkos seem to think I’m just another opponent like the last tomato cans they cherry picked so Vitali could easily beat them up.”

Solis thinks that Vitali is hoping to get out of the fight by making really low offers. However, Solis says he doesn’t care about the money and would gladly fight Vtali for free if he were to agree to do the same. Solis won’t give up on the fight and will take it no matter what.

This will be one of Vitali’s better challengers from the looks of it. Solis can box a little, has decent speed and can punch at times. Solis’ only problem is that he’s only around 6’1″ and he’s carrying around far too much weight at 260+. He’s like a walking refrigerator. Solis weighed 200 pounds while fighting in the Olympics six years ago, but the weight he’s put on has really slowed him down badly. He’s going to have problems against the taller Vitali because of that. It’s probably too late for Solis to start trimming down all the flab because he’s been carrying it around for the past three years. If were to reduce weight now to say 210 to 220, it would likely leave him too weak to fight.
