Image: Haye says Wladimir was "looking for the cowards way out" of their fightBy Sean McDaniel: Don’t tell WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) that IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) still intends on fighting him on July 2nd, like the two had agreed upon, because Haye is convinced that Wladimir doesn’t want to fight him and is taking the cowards way out of their fight.

This came about after Wladimir, who after learning that the soonest he could fight Haye was on July 2nd, decided to take a tune-up bout to get ready for the Haye bout against Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) on April 30th. Chisora, a decent heavyweight from England, is hardly a threat to beat Wladimir and mess up the Haye bout in July.

Haye said this about Wladimir in a Sky Sports News article: “Even through negotiations, though, it was clear Wladimir was looking for the coward’s way out. He would often come up with new obstacles and problems to overcome, and I never once senses he fancied it. He refused to come to England, wanted to pick his own gloves, enter the ring second, box out of the red corner and demanded a German doctor.”

Haye seems to be in a tizzy over Wladimir’s tune-up, perhaps thinking that he’ll have a change of mind later on and want to delay the fight even further. It’s possible, as is a threat of Wladimir getting cut or maybe even getting beaten if Chisora can land something big. However, it’s not probable, because Wladimir is a lot better than Chisora and he wants to fight Haye to punish him, prove to boxing fans who the best heavyweight is in boxing and also to get the big payday that comes with fighting Haye.
